Bangkok--1 Apr--Total Quality PR Which was the first English club to ever play Brazil? Has Manchester United ever played a home match on Maine Road? What was Arsenal FC originally known as? If you don’t know the answers to these mind-boggling football questions and lots more mind benders like these, then tune in to Samsung Kick Off for the answers! The third season returns to STAR Sports (Ch.39, 65) and will air every Monday and Wednesday at 1800*, starting today, 31 March 2008. Hosted by the affable and witty Andrew Leci, Asia’s ultimate football quiz show continues its search for Asia’s most knowledgeable football fans. The competition will be intense as 20 teams from all over Asia — including India, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore - compete for the grand prize of an all-expense paid, once-in-a-lifetime trip to England to watch a Premier League match of their choice. Also back are the game’s Team Captains, former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool striker Paul Walsh, and former Newcastle United star, John Beresford. They will stand in the line of fire with the participants, as the trigger-happy Leci shoots off the questions. Shown over 23 episodes and featuring two play-off stages, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, the winner of each episode will progress to the next stage along with the two best ‘runner-up’ teams from the previous stage (i.e. the two highest scoring ‘losing’ teams). From the quarter finals onwards, each episode will eliminate a team, with only the winning pair progressing to the next stage. Said Charles Less, Senior Vice President, Ad Sales, ESPN STAR Sports, “ESPN STAR Sports is constantly looking to bring innovative sports entertainment programs to our viewers and we are delighted to welcome back the third season of Samsung Kick Off, Asia’s definitive football quiz show. This year, we are proud to have Samsung on board as the title sponsor and viewers can look forward to a new season of intense action and even more challenging questions. More than just a sports entertainment show, Samsung Kick Off also helps Samsung meet both its corporate and brand objectives and we look forward to more synergistic partnerships in the future.” This year’s participants include defending champion, Catalonian Nation, comprising Dr. Pravin Peraba and Dr. Dharmindra Gunarajah of Malaysia, who will certainly be counting on their infallible memory to make a return to the final. Also in the mix is last year’s other finalist, Thai Reds, who hope to do one better to clinch the top prize, bolstered by sports journalist Thanapon Subgranon’s knowledge of the game. But with such keen competition, a new challenger could very well emerge from this year’s batch of contestants - which also include a dating couple, a father-and-son team, and a pair of brothers, who are all vying for the grand prize. Be sure to catch all the exciting action on Samsung Kick Off, only on STAR Sports. *Samsung Kick Off will be shown at 2230HKT in India. Please check your local listings for exact timings.
