Bangkok--29 Oct--Grand Sukhumvit by Sofitel
The full moon night of the twelfth (12th) month is the time of Loy Krathong. Loy means “to float” and Krathong means “leaf cup in lotus form”, which is usually made of banana leaf. The leaf cups as well as a candle are used as an offering sacrificed to the mother of waters.
In the evening, when the full moon begins to rise, people carry their Krathong to the bank of waterways. When the candles and incense sticks are lit, a few folk will sometimes raise their Krathong over their head in order to make a vow to wish for peace and happiness in the coming year before pushing it gently out onto the surface of the placid water. They watch the Krathong as it floats sluggishly along until it is far away out of sight.
In respect to this tradition, Grand Sukhumvit by Sofitel celebrates this traditional festival around an International — Thai Seafood - B.B.Q buffet dinner at the Caf? de Nimes with local cultural entertainment.
