Best Western International Asia (BWI) enters into an agreement with Kachikaihatsu Co. Ltd. for its expansion plans in Japan.
The agreement was formally sealed in a press conference organized recently at the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The event was attended by Kachikaihatsu Co. Ltd. President Yuji Abe and Best Western International Vice President for International Operations in Asia Glenn de Souza.
Kachikaihatsu Co. Ltd., formerly Jyomo Company Limited, is a Japan-based company, public-listed in the Tokyo Stock Exchange. It is mainly engaged in real estate businesses including leasing, operations, trading, investigation, planning, market analysis and real estate management.
For its initial projects with Best Western, Kachikaihatsu Co. Ltd. is signing in three hotels in Sapporo, Oita and Okinawa. A total of 500 rooms from this areas will be added to the Best Western portfolio in 2009. In Japan, Best Western International has 16 hotels in operations and development. By 2010, there will be a total of over 2,600 rooms in Japan.
De Souza said, “We are thrilled about this new partnership with a prominent company. This event is significant for us since it supports our plans for the region and reinforces our presence in the country.”
In Asia, there are currently over 130 Best Western properties in operations and different stages of development across 14 countries in the region. The aim of Best Western International is to achieve 200 hotels in Asia by the year 2010.
Existing Best Western hotels in Japan are: BW Premier Nagasaki Hotel, BW Hotel Takayama, BW Kochi, BW Joytel Osaka, BW Wakayama, BW Shinjuku Astina Hotel, BW Hotel Newscity, BW Tosu and BW Sendai.
