Australia’s low fares airline Jetstar has today celebrated its inaugural daily Brisbane-Darwin-Denpasar (Bali) flight, increasing the airline’s every day low fares and highly competitive access to the popular holiday island to a total of 17 flights per week from five Australian cities.
Jetstar’s new daily A320 service from Brisbane, which departs from its domestic operations at Brisbane Airport to connect through the airline’s expanding international hub in Darwin, is in addition to Jetstar’s existing flights to Denpasar (Bali) from Perth (three times weekly, growing to four times weekly from 17 December) and existing two class A330-200 services from Sydney (four times weekly) and Melbourne (two times weekly).
Jetstar Chief Executive Officer Bruce Buchanan said the new flights would offer passengers affordable travel to one Australia’s most popular international holiday destinations, with one way JetSaver Light fares starting from $389 from Brisbane and $229 from Darwin at Jetstar.com.
“Jetstar passengers departing Brisbane on our new daily service can now travel through Darwin to Bali on our every day, low fares,” Mr Buchanan said.
“This new service also opens up opportunities for Queenslanders to continue their journey to a range of other international destinations. From Darwin, Jetstar also offers international services to Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City.”
The Darwin-Denpasar route marks the introduction of Jetstar’s third international service from Darwin in addition to existing A320 services to Singapore (double daily) and Ho Chi Minh City (five times weekly), in its goal to establish Darwin as a strategic transport hub into near Asia.
Mr Buchanan said Bali had been a popular holiday destination for Australians for decades, with recent statistics showing it was continuing to grow year-on-year.
“Visitation trends continue to show Bali as a growing destination. So far this year, more than 260,000 Australians have visited, marking an increase of almost 60 per cent compared to last year,” Mr Buchanan said.
“Our latest international route will also maintain Jetstar as the fastest growing international carrier, and top five airline by market share, in the Australian market.”
Jetstar’s international inflight service to Bali will include choice of portable video on demand units for hire offering latest movie releases, TV programs, music videos and audio tracks and a range of hot food, snacks and beverages including alcoholic drinks available for purchase.
Passengers can also choose an Extra Leg Room option upgrade when available when booking JetSaver Light and JetSaver fares for $60 AUD on international services, offering 20 per cent more seat pitch compared to a regular economy seat. Visit Jetstar.com for more details.
Jetstar’s new Brisbane-Darwin-Denpasar service will operate as a domestic to international connecting flight through Darwin with passengers departing from Jetstar’s domestic facility at Brisbane Airport, checking in only once for the flight through to Denpasar (Bali).
Jetstar also flies from Brisbane direct to Melbourne Avalon, Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide, Cairns, Whitsunday Coast, Hamilton Island, Mackay, Townsville and Rockhampton, in addition to domestic services between Brisbane-Darwin.
It also conducts daily international A320 services between Brisbane-Christchurch.
