Bangkok Bank and Kaspersky join to make online banking safer

Bangkok--7 Oct--Bangkok Bank Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, and Bangkok Bank are working together to help protect computer users from online fraud and information theft. “Everyone who uses a computer is at risk if they are not using reliable antivirus software on their computers,” said Ms Gun Suk Ling, Managing Director for Kaspersky Lab, Southeast Asia. “For example, this year’s notorious ‘Conficker’ worm wreaked havoc on vulnerable computers, infecting, by some estimation, approximately 35 million computers[1]. It also demonstrated why people should install a good antivirus system — and keeps it up-to-date.” Bangkok Bank IT Security expert Dr Kitti Kosavisutte said, “Viruses in cyberspace continually adapt and evolve. Bangkok Bank urges all its customers, and particularly those using internet banking applications, to ensure their computers have up-to-date software and have reliable antivirus software, which will help safeguard their computers against third-party attacks.” To encourage greater protection, Kaspersky Lab is offering Bangkok Bank customers its antivirus software at specially discounted prices — 10% off when purchasing from a link originating from Bangkok Bank’s internet banking site, and a further 10% off if payment is made with a Bangkok Bank card — a total saving of 20%, the lowest price available in Thailand. “We are pleased that Kaspersky Lab is able to offer our customers these special prices,” added Bangkok Bank Internet Banking Manager Ms Boontarik Srimongkol. “We hope this promotion will lead to an increase in awareness about the importance of online security and a greater overall use of antivirus software in Thailand.” Users can find internet banking security tips at the Bangkok Bank homepage, www.bangkokbank.com. “Whether customers just browse the web, use web forums or internet banking, computer security is becoming increasingly important to all users,” added Gun Suk Ling. “Without an adequate antivirus protection, various malicious programs, such as ‘keyloggers’ that steal personal information, can be stealthily installed to the victim’s computer and cause serious financial damage.” This latest initiative reflects Bangkok Bank’s leadership in providing secure, convenient and reliable banking services. For example, the bank recently launched its Be1st Smart card, Thailand’s first debit card enabled with world-standard EMV chip security technology. Kaspersky Internet Security and Anti Virus software can be purchased now; a link for more information is available at www.bangkokbank.com Purchasing discounts are available for Bangkok Bank cardholders.
