ในโอกาสที่พรรค National ของนาย John Key นายกรัฐมนตรีนิวซีแลนด์ชนะการเลือกตั้งและได้เสียงข้างมากในสภาในการเลือกตั้งทั่วไปของนิวซีแลนด์ เมื่อวันที่ 20 ก.ย. 2557 พลเอกประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีสารแสดงความยินดีเนื่องในโอกาสดังกล่าว ดังนี้

I am certain that, under your leadership guided by your experience as Prime Minister of New Zealand, for two consecutive terms, the cordial relations between Thailand and New Zealand will be further strengthened and enhanced.
